Not quite sure but did you both know it forms part of a complete Marvel series, the Series Run as you should watch https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Marvel_Cinematic_Universe_television_series#Netflix_series

I quite enjoyed them all Daredevil probably the best then The Punisher, and Luke Cage. I didn't think they would be my cup of tea but pretty watchable.
Thoroughly enjoyed series one of Daredevil but series two, in spite of starting well was, on the whole, dire... just more and more ninjas for him to fight in each episode. The finale was ninja filled yawn fest.

I eventually watched the Christmas Doctor Who episode which I thoroughly enjoyed. David Bradley’s William Hartnell 1st Doctor was absolutely brilliant. He really captured the role. A regeneration scene is always memorable. Capaldi isn’t my favourite Doctor, but he wasn’t bad. Perhaps it was the eyebrows . What was good about Capaldi’s Doctor is that he got to keep his Scottish accent while Tennant’s didn’t. It’s good to change things up and keep the show fresh. I look forward to seeing what the ‘new’ Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, can do. I haven’t really seen her in anything other than tiny parts (I haven’t got around to watching Broadchurch yet). Great cliffhanger too. ^_^
One of the better Xmas episodes (which are often terrible), but the ending was a tiresome sentimental puke fest. Do we really need a little bit of This Is Your Life in before a regeneration scene?

I too really enjoyed it, particularly David Bradley's perfect portrayal of Hartnell's doctor; quite a hard thing to do, playing another actor's take on a character. Bradley seems to just get better and better in everything he's in. Loved the way the Hartnell doctor was casually sexist - surely a reference to how far the series itself has evolved. Whilst I love the older series, the modern me does wince at the, even then, behind the times attititudes reflected, compared to its contemporary "The Avengers" say.

All that said, non-geeks might have wondered what the hell was going on !

Given the dire state of terrestrial festive TV, we've been exploring the back catalogue on Prime.

Some stuff has barely made it through the first episode (Life in Pieces, for example), but there is some really good stuff on there.

Bosch is exceptionally good and well worth a look. It does sound a bit formulaic (ex special forces soldier now a cop who doesn't like authority), but the scripts and acting lift it way above being just another cop show. Even if the LAPD do seem to have the same phone system as Halfords (listen to the phones ringing in the precinct house...)

Preacher is equally good, if you can get past Eli Dingle from Emmerdale being a leading character.

Just watched the final of World's Strongest Man, a festive ritual for me. The stuff these guys are capable of is just incredible.

Well done Eddie! And I hope he does bow out on that victory, the documentary about the sacrifices he's made was an eye opener.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
This evening was great. The proper Quizzy Monday double bill of Only Connect and (Christmas) University Challenge, bookended by last night's last World's Strongest Man final. Last Man Standing, or Atlas Stone Tennis as it should be called, is brutal - even if the result is something of a foregone conclusion. The final is waiting for tomorrow.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Atlas Stone Tennis is a great name for it.

Episode 1 of McMafia. Very promising.
Yes. Enjoyed it. Edward Norton can usually be relied on to be good in anything. I recognised the uncle that was killed from that Australian series. Was it The Lake?

My Amazon faves over the last year or so have been:

Bosch, top quality crime drama with first rate acting and intriguing interwoven storylines.
Patriot, kind of wacky spy storyline, excellent show and very funny too.
Goliath, Billy Bob Thornton as drunk flop house dwelling brief who takes on the big guys.
Hand of God, Judge with zero morals does whatever he fancies regardless.
The Fall (in case you missed it on TV), Agent Scully as Met Police brought in to assist Belfast Police, edgy drama.
Man in the High Castle, classy drama about nazis and Japanese winning WWII. Very loosely based on Philip K Dick book.

Watched all these. Agree, they were excellent. I'll maybe try the others you mention too, thanks.

Just watched the first episode of the new series of Great British Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo.

Always worth a watch as a slightly obscure travelogue, but surely I wasn't the only one watching him sailing along the Norfolk Broads and secretly wondering if some local farmers were waiting to drop a cow off the next bridge, was I?
