Cheers Ed

How odd that people go on about helmets (their choice) and then someone says they don't wear gloves or mitts in better weather. Being an old soldier and former race rider at a reasonable standard, I would NEVER race/ride without mitts. Your hands take a long time to recover from gravel rash. Honestly I don't care how expert and reflex driven anyone thinks they are (and winter gym training as a junior about a thousand years ago taught me similar reflexes) there will be a time when the worst will happen. Plus of course a little bit of padding between hands and bars can make life a bit more comfortable - after all padded shorts are the norm, and that bit has less nerve endings than hands!rode all through the winter and never came off my hybrid with 38mm hybrid tyres
i have trained and taught my self effectively so that falling correctly is a reflex when i sense that i am falling i get into that position in less than probably half a minute
has helped on push bikes and a motorbike once or twice
it's the same as getting punched or some other form of pain you automatically scream/shout and go ow!

will probably invest in gloves then but i have ridden with borrowed pairs from my mates and never find them as comfortable as bare handsHow odd that people go on about helmets (their choice) and then someone says they don't wear gloves or mitts in better weather. It all comes down to choice, I suppose, and I choose to look after my hands.
