I desperately need a job to fund my cycling and just found out that my lbs (8miles away) is hiring and this is the description on the site:

We are always looking for enthusiastic youngsters for part/full time work, call in for a chat and ask for Gavin or Andy.

So what should I write in my CV, remeber I am only 14 and so need to blag as much as I can as I havent done much.

I was a scout, am halfway through my bronze d of e, used to have a paper round, and am I very keen cyclist in a club. Don't know if any of this helps but its about as much as I can think of to put in there.

Bugger - just found out that the advert was published in august 07:angry:

Still need to write a CV though as when I phoned last month they said to drop one by as they keep them on record.

Be honest with them.

No porkies or exaggeration.

The things you've described are perfect to put down. Despite being only 14 you've been learning how to be self sufficient and practical but also able to work as part of a team.

Others will have more advice.

Good luck - does it say what you'd be doing?

You've said it all in the fourth paragraph. The 'downside' of being 14 is that you don't have much experience to offer a prospective employer. If you try to blag it he'll see right through you and discount your CV as a work of fiction. Play it straight up - you'll be fine.

Don't lie.
Don't sound arrogant (but sound confident).
Make sure you are flexiable to them.
Sound keen.
Know something about something.
Tailor your CV to the job.
Sound a bit "different".
*Shrug* maybe be a bit cheeky, some professions like it, but thats a risk.

Good luck with job-hunting YC. I'm having to do it all over again.

Let me guess? Follows the "Hire me I am brilliant and you love me." ?

It just so happens the manager was female..................
I actually used myself working for them to hire me. I did my work experience in Millets so i was offered a job because i did the work asked(and they loved me;))

I did get offered a job once by offering a couple of days free trial on the basis that they paid me for the trial if they offered me the job. I couldn't then take it as I got dragged off to Manchester.

You could offer to help out as a means of getting your foot in the door. It proves commitment and willingness to work.
