Just started cycling. Did a 50 mile ride and took some flapjacks wrapped in foil but had to stop to unwrap and eat.

Other than practice more, does anyone have better suggestions on what to wrap snacks (flapjacks, sarnies, etc.) in that is easy to open and eat on the move, especially with winter gloves on!

To my mind there's nothing wrong with stopping to eat (not that I do many rides which require inflight refuels), but I'm sure someone will be along soon with a practical and yet ingenious solution

Baking paper might be easier to unwrap with gloves on.

Have a break, have a Kit-Kat
Actually, no, chocolate would melt in your back pockets.
Jelly beans won't!

Sit on yer erchie and enjoy..
There are some places I intentionally head to just to drink in the views and have a break.
I'm not into this cake stuff on long jaunts, I prefer fast food (but then again I'm portly)....

Chill:thumbsup:

If I don't intend on stopping I use a plastic sandwich bag cut down to size, which I pop into my back pocket. Easier than having to unwrap anything, but can be a little bit fiddly at times when I'm rooting around for the last dried apricot.

For flapjacks doesn't John Torode recommend wrapping them in edible rice paper? I'm sure that's what he uses.

Hi Berk on a Bike. Yes I realised that many many years ago and still practice it BUT I make sure that I at the top of the hill now, therefore conserving the new found energy rather than expending it on the last couple of hundred yards:hyper::sun::laugh:
