Well, it certainly rained. Breakfast pre-ride to the ride, if you follow, was mountain of Shredded Wheat accompanied by a very stiff black coffee. At 4am, I simply couldn't be arsed to do more than pour and eat.
I tooled up with four SIS Gels, a banana and a couple of bottles of SIS electrolyte drink. This was probably a good idea with hindsight, as it was that danged wet, packaging could have become an issue. I felt tip-top and up for it all day. Even when the spirit flagged as the first trickle of water caressed my nut-sack 18 miles in, the legs never felt like they were going to give up. Indeed, I set a Strava segment PB on the way home from the ride. Given how utterly, utterly soaked I was, I was not expecting that, especially since my longest ride to date was 32 miles and today totaled 76.
