Hi all.

As thread title really. Comfortable changing tyres, inner tubes etc. Also fairly comfortable changing brake pads and minor brake adjustments.

What should I be learning next?

I'm thinking chain and cassette replacement as I seem to get through those fairly quickly, any other thoughts?

It's a good start. Get the cassette off and give it a good clean, making sure the freehub is nice a clean also.

Sorry should have said, can index gears.

Have thought about cable inners and outers but I seem to go through chains and cassettes more than cables.

Whatever happens to next needs doing would seem the best thing to learn. I'm admittedly reasonably capable for mechanical things, but wasn't always thus: I just took to bits whatever needed doing, and found it pretty simple Just convince yourself "how hard can it be" and nothing in a bike is that hard; fiddly maybe, but not hard. I might farm out refacing the bottom bracket shell, but that's about it.

This. Just research the next job that needs doing, then do it. I don't set out to learn anything, I just work it out when the job actually needs doing.
