Only joking. :becool:

It'll be a fab bike. If you are wanting white and celeste all over, as I said earlier, I have fitted a white FSA seatpost - looks well cool

edit: one of these

If you've got a B17 shaped arse then there's no point in going for a really narrow shadow. I had the same problem when I built up my Look - I love my B17 but I didn't want that weight or style on my lightweight carbon bike. I went for a Selle Italia Max Flite and I'm happy that I made the right choice. It's available in white - http://http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/productdetail.asp?productcatalogue=SELLSADD265http://http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/productdetail.asp?productcatalogue=SELLSADD265

I have a Charge Spoon. Only about £30 and I'm never thinking about my arse when I'm on a long ride. (I may be thinking about the arse of the girl riding just ahead, however).

If I could afford a Brooks saddle I'd get one.

It's a bit more complicated than that...

...my B17 is fantastic, I can ride all day on it and never get any pain. That tells me that I want a leather covering and not plastic etc. I saw th e2009 Bianchis have a white sam marco fitted...that was the kind of thing I am after. Oh yes I forgot to say it MUST be white.

That tells you you want another B17. Brooks are not leather-covered, they are leather - there's a huge difference. A leather saddle will shape itself nicely to you, a leather-covered saddle is a big hard lump of plastic that will try and deform you.

Once you're sitting on it, no-one can see what colour it is. If you're shallow enough to want a white saddle, get a B17 and paint it.

Or google, and find one of these: http://www.bikeradar.com/gallery/article/second-look-portland-handmade-show-14492?img=11

haven't read any other posts apart from the brooks referral. I have a specialized alias 155(mm) - my arse was measured on a spesh arse measuring tool at a localish bike store. turns out my sit-bones are wider apart than most folks(155mm vs 143mm) - and it's jolly comfy.

Brooks have a huge reputation but I have found out that the rails are'nt terribly long so you may have trouble getting it far back enough

-- good luck!

Brooks, but not a B17 - get a Swallow Ti. 360 grams, unbelievably comfy.

I used to use the Spesh Toupe but would get arse chafing after 3 or 4 hours in hot weather because I sweat quite a lot and it isnt breathable. 200 grams is a small price to pay for no arse issues.

My Spesh has a Fizik Arione - 10.5 hours Land's End to Taunton. 10 hours Taunton to Solihull. etc etc... No problem.
My Audax bike has a B17 Narrow. 15.5 hours 300km. No problem.

Whatever saddle you finally buy, the most important piece of advice you could receive is :- Set it at the correct height!!

My Bianchi also has a Fizik on it (Aliante Delta) I've done lots of miles on it and found it really comfortable. How did you find the saddle on your new bike BTFB?
I also put the Avatar on my other bike, one of the earlier recommendations just the other day, its only done around 80miles but so far I'd say it was a good investment.

My struggle is in finding something which noticeably supports my sit bones - anything where the middle of the saddle is higher than the wings (i.e. any Fizik, most Selle Italia, SDG etc.) put pressure where it ain't meant to be. I'm sticking with a specialised toupe for the minute but the design is a bit poor IMO as the front plastic bit seems to keep catching on my shorts. I'm vegan, so a brooks is out, so I'll just have to keep experimenting.

Why don't more shops have saddles you can try out? I know Selle Italia dealers are supposed to but the only one listed near me didn't even have any on display never mind testers!

I think you need to give saddles a real chance. Obviously if it's making you numb then somethings really wrong but a bit of soreness after a long ride is fine to begin with. As with most things in cycling theres no substitude for hours in the saddle, which will toughen you up down there.
I chop and change a fair bit (different bikes and the need to fettle) but most saddles are rideable. I'm riding a (new style) flite on my road bike at the moment and it's really comfy!
