Hello

I am new to this forum and to cycling in general, so hello everyone

After much deliberation, I have decided that a hybrid is the bike for me. Realistically I have a budget of up to £600. I have seen the Scott sub 30 and am keen on that, so keen in fact that I am now unable to see past it to look at other brands of hybrid bike. The bike will be used mainly for general/leisure use, but I am also keen on entering a few triathalons as well. Can anybody please offer their advice?

Thank you!

From Google it looks a nice bike but a bit low geared for triathlon and if like my ridgeback velocity (also labelled a sports hybrid and has similar specs) it weighs a ton and would't be much good for triathlons. You'd also need to change the tyre for something narrower too. As a general /leisure bike its spot on though. My Aussie mate does triathlons on a hybrid; aka a flat bar road bike (something similar to a Spezialised Sirrus) they are much lighter and narrower tyres and slightly higher geared.

I have an old Scott MTB which has been great and now have had a sirrus comp fir my commute for around a month. It's great, fast, comfortable and nicely built.

Highly recommended by me!

What about cyclo cross bikes like the Marin Lombard or Kona Jake the Snake, would they suit this type of use?
