what length spoke...

drive side spoke on the tourer has gone. the 'button' end of the spoke has come off leaving a bend and an intact straight bit which i've unscrewed from the nipple.

how do i measure the spoke so i know what size i need to order/get to replace it?

two lbs didn't have anything matching in stock and i was daft and didn't ask either what size it was....

Even this method may be a bit difficult. You can buy a device for measuring spokes. It consists of a plastic plate with a hole at the top of a graduated scale. The hook of the spoke is inserted in the hole and the length read off the scale. In that your spoke is broken it may be better to consult one of the spoke calculator websites.

You measure from the inside of the bend where the spoke would pull on the hub flange right to the end of the thread.
