My commute often takes me from home to West Brompton at the back of Earl's Court,15 miles. By motorbike I can do it in 40 mins, by cycle i can do it in an hour, by tube, inc a 10 minuit walk to the station, an hour and 20 mins.
I reckon motorcycling is the quickest way to cross London in the rush hour. Closely followed by real cycling, which would lose out as soon as the traffic becomes a bit lighter and M/bikes can filter through. Cars would be the best option in quieter times, although these are few and far between in London. Plus the fact, congestion charge would put a lot of people off driving.
Perhaps the bus and train catagories should come under one "public transport" option? I know the stig on Top Gear used both buses and trains in his journey, with the Oyster card.
