What is a bilaminate frame ?

I have to plead ignorance regarding the term 'bilaminate' frame.

How do they differ from other frames with lugs and what advantages are associated with a bilaminate frame ? Do they cost more to make ?

Never heard of it but obviously something made from two layers such as carbon wrapped aluminum. Carbon composite frames are usually made from many layers of pre-preg fabric so perhaps they are referring to a construction which uses, for example, unidirectional weave on top of multi-direction weave. But since in general terms this is how most carbon fibre products are built it would seem to be the usual made-up marketing department drivel being used in an attempt to make something mundane sound exciting. I expect.
