Got the Veloce front caliper installed on the rear. Went for a test ride and I liked it so much better than the '90s Record front that I got a pair of Veloces to get another front. Both have my old Record blocks and adjusters, with new Kool-Stop black pads.

Some local veterinarians will refer to a mixed breed dog or mutt as an 'Espanola Brown dog'.
Maybe these could be called 'Campagnolo Silver brakes'.

Replaced a bunch of sensor batteries on two bikes. Replaced the ones on the other bike last week. Between that and the kitchen and bathroom scaled, I need new CR2032 batteries now though.

That was Tuesday's night's job for me. Well replacing the CR2032 in my power meter. It was a bit of a bodge too. I decided to lift up the copper arms of the bit (it'll have a technical name) that feeds of the battery and act like a spring too. It popped clean off and I didn't have conductive glue or whatever the experts use to put it back. So I carefully cut a bit of electrical tape over the base of the clip that doesn't touch the battery and all seems good 🤞

Dropped the studded tyres off the MTB and popped on some light gravel tyres in their place. Now looking to hopefully riding some local bridal ways later today. Apologies for any snow or hard frosts cropping up in the near future.

Those GR1 Team Issue tyres were what was supplied on this recent acquisition:

Had this in the stand for cable adjustment and chainwheel chain stay adjustment. Those mudguards look a bit wide for the 32mm GP5000s. I need to find some wheel reflectors that fit the bladed spokes properly.

I realised this morning that the front wheel on my Carlton was on the wrong way, goodness knows how I hadn’t noticed.

So I popped it off and then noticed that the hub bearings were really tight, so that turned into a full hub service. Also noticed that the headset had come loose (yet again) so I adjusted that and tightened it with a small dob of loctite.

The joy of running older bikes!

Or lose the wheel reflectors ;)

Bled the 105 brakes for the 1st time, surprisingly easy, plenty of mucky looking fluid from the front brake and it's now got less free movement.

New big Shimano 105 50T chainring on the Colnago CX-1. It probably needs a new chain as well, but as I'd bought the chainring in lockdown (in the wrong colour, and expensive, as it was all that was available), and the chain's started randomly jumping off, I thought it better to get the new chainring on pronto. Test ride tomorrow. Will check my 'spares' box to see if I've got a 10sp chain in hand.

I'm still going through my Spring spruce up of the Gravel bike. Today I was looking at the front brake that has a sticky master cylinder piston. Whilst I'm there it's also a good opportunity to renew the bar tape and replace the rubber hood that has seen better days.

Removing the brake lever and master cylinder cover is pretty easy and straightforward, the cylinder is proper gummed up though so I need to attach a bleed syringe to the bleed port and force it out. When it's out, I can then give it a good clean and then grease it up with SRAM Dot grease. It's quite common for these to gum up on gravel bikes due to the dust and dirt kicked up, unfortunately though SRAM refuse to sell them as a spare part so you need to be careful with them.

Rebuilding it all is a little more fiddly than disassembly, but before long I had the cylinder assembly back together. While the brake lever is off, it is a perfect opportunity to replace the rubber hood cover without having to disconnect the hydraulic hose. With that done, I replaced the lever, then reattached it the bars. Then I re-wrapped the bars is some new Cinelli Cork Tape.

Last week I'd done the same job on the other side whilst I'd been upgrading the shifter internals to 12 speed:

So that's the bars and brake levers all completely overhauled as well as the drivetrain.
