Haha some very good points here and sorry to see some of the nasty injuries you've all had, think I will have to stick to rule 5 going forward.

Cycle shopping list is getting longer by the minute though, I think the bug is getting worse and I've hardly ridden much!

I think I'd have been pretty limp due to the alcohol in my blood that night, but obviously not lol!!
i'm riding a £70 bike with pedals and shoes given to me free and i don't like gloves and i wear a £10 jersey and a £10 pair of padded shorts i drink out of a free bottle i got when doing a charity event
total cost:
£90
i have covered well over 10 times that number of miles and will have covered over 20 times that number but in miles by the end of this year
all i'm saying is you don't NEED to spend much but it is easy to

and no i don't deny that i would like some more and better jerseys and some bib shorts and a road bike
Cheers Ed
P.S: oh but i have spent £180 on a garmin

Fair comment, I will be doing my best to fight temptation, gloves are the main thing on my list right now  padded palms required haha

An antique restorer works nearby. He is also a keen cyclist. When I started commuting a few years ago, his first advice was "get some gloves". " If you come off your bike, you will plane your palms on the tarmac and you won't be able to work with them for a fortnight".
