What happened to global warming then?

There has always been climate change, and there always will be.
CO2 driven global warming is bollocks, it may have a very tiny contributory effect but CO2 being the source of climate change is nonsense.

But that's amazing news! You must have developed a completely revolutionary new theory of how the atmosphere works that explains all current trends better than the current ones, but showing that the world is spared the terrible threat of climate change! I assume you will be publishing your results very soon? A Nobel Prize awaits, and the thanks of a grateful world!

Chromatic - you clearly don't like evidence or facts - you'd do well in the USA as a member of the tea party.

The calculation that without man-made global warming we'd be headed for an ice age doesn't change anything. It's an interesting curiosity We humans have caused global warming and the climate change that leads to will happen, the ice age that's been prevented won't.

As for terminology - it's been the same since the 1960s (and earlier)- no variation or adjustments needed:

Releasing Greenhouse Gasses causes Global Warming

Global Warming causes Climate Change.

There's no confusion or ambiguity whatsoever, there's been no change to that and none's needed.

Neither is there any disagreement between scientists over what's happening and what's causing it. The only disagreements are over how fast, and the detail of the effects.

Scientists just use a method which gives highly reliable information about the physical world (/universe etc.) They don't make or enact policy. Politicians do that. Scientists of various disciplines have provided consistent and highly reliable evidence of what's going on to the planet as a result of human pollution, and with a bit of help from applied mathematicians high probability predictions of what will happen in future. Politicians have consistently failed to give the lead and response needed to control that and provide a less degraded future. Self interested groups have, in pursuit of their short term advantage, applied pressure and spread misinformation to encourage politicians to do nothing. They have succeeded in condeming future generations to a degraded world.

I've said before what my opinion is - The evidence is that it's too late to do anything useful to stop catastrophic climate change, and that's only one of the aspects of our exceeding the capacities of the planet to support our way of life. For those of us over about 40 years old we can go on enjoying the earth as a pleasant place, with our comfortable lifestyles and without too much chance of our being much bothered by the consequences. Under 40 and you're likely to see some of the nastier effects taking hold during your lifetimes, under 20 and you're in for a rough time if you live much beyond about age 60.

Absolutely, but there's this quite important thing called evidence in science. There are many groups trying desperately to prove man made climate change wrong, but they have been unable to, as the evidence is clear. I don't think your statement above accurately reflects what's actually happening in climate science, but is a caricature promoted by people who don't want it to be true.
Who are these groups ? and I hope you have evidence to back up your claims about them

It is actually quite funny that the climate change deniers are now picking up on this particular story, as man-made climate change can only prevent an ice-age if it is, er, real....

anybody noticed how thin our atmosphere really is when you lookat it from space?....Then look out into the cold depths of the universe....that thin blue line is what is keeping us alive. Why destroy it just so we can all drive a tin can?

Stop being so pessimistic.

Or you could turn your heating off, or better still refrain from starting pointless threads in the cafe, that waste even more resources ^_^
