Heaven 17 coming up shortly at Holmfirth Picturedrome. Great Venue with only few hundred capacity

Whole family going, taxi back to Glossop. Then I have to cycle over Holme Moss the next day to go get the car which should be fun

Saw them a 3 or 4 years back, playing The Luxury Gap, they were ace, Glen Gregory seems like a complete gent.

Last month of indoor gigs for me before the festival season takes over, with quite a varied line up...

Bombay Bicycle Club
Amyl & the Sniffers (with Billy Nomates as support)
Laura Viers
Sorry
The Mission
Courtney Barnett

And that's it until September as I don't do festivals!

Beck at Kentish Town. Very enjoyable but very hot. However, very glad we weren’t at Brixton on Friday when it was 30+, we saw him there many many years ago when it was roasting and almost melted. Even he commented that it’s meant to be cold in London and it’s always a fricking heatwave when he’s here

First indoor standing gig for a long time…oh how I’ve missed getting jostled and covered in beer (we were standing close to the bar  )

Next up is Kaleidoscope festival outdoors at Ally Pally in about a month

Nocturne. This is a series of outdoors gigs at Blenheim Palace. We went last night - headline act was Simple Minds, supported by Deacon Blue and Caezar.

Loved DB (seen many times), enjoyed SM (first time) but didn’t like the weather - we were saturated but stayed until the end.

Kaleidoscope festival at Ally Pally

Magic Numbers, one of my faves and the main reason for me to go
Charlotte Church’s Late Night Pop Dungeon, bizarre but they looked to be having fun
David Rodigan, afternoon reggae and jungle
The Happy Mondays, Sean Ryder looked worse for wear, Bez definitely played the crowd with his maracas
Orbital, very good light show, not my sort of thing really, very samey. We stayed for an hour but had to get home!

Unfortunately DJ Yoda clashed with the Magic Numbers, he’s always good fun though

I'd have been at Ally Pally (big fan of the brothers Hartnoll) but for the clash with the Prodigy at Brixton. Poignant & clever tribute to Keith Flint in an instrumental version of Firestarter, otherwise the usual (extraordinary) sonic bludgeoning service.
