Chocolate and Pear Pudding.

2oz of Plain Flour
1/2 tsp of baking powder
pinch of salt
2 and 1/2 oz of soft margarine
4oz of sugar
2 tbsp of cocoa
medium sized egg
14oz of tinned or fresh pears

Grease an ovenproof dish, add the pears but no juice.
Mix all the other ingredients and throw on top.

Gas Mark 4 for 20 minutes.

that's it, the recipe comes from Look In magazine circa 1982.

Its our Christmas party tomorrow, Ive ordered sticky toffee pudding:tongue:
We had our xmas lunch a few days back. I had jam sponge with custard.
There was this small yellow berry in there which had its slender leaves prettily encasing it. Tasty, but still don't know what it's called, phillistine that i am.

We always have steamed pudding with dates (and sometimes apples and/or raisins: depends how random my Mum is feeling). Very good and needs cream to go with.

Or treacle dumpling? The treacle can be a bit full on for some people but it does look great. Don't mix the treacle in, put some in the bottom of the pudding basin before putting the mixture in, so you get the full effect of the black of the treacle on top of the turned-out sponge.

Thanks for the suggestions. Following much debate and discussion the Noodley family have decided we should have a choice of two puddings

One of them shall be clootie dumpling and custard.
The other is still up for grabs...there are a few strong contenders in this thread.

I left my pudding just out side York:blush: but I can have it to look forward to when I get back:biggrin::tongue:

Dear Spandex

Thank you for your entry in the 'Find an alternative lyric for "I Left My Heart In San Francisco" contest. However, I must point out that your second line does not quite fit the music. Too many words.

Best Regards
Beanz.

Basically apple on the bottom with a sponge mixture over the top. Huge custard absorbing potential and also has the benefit of only taking about an hour to prepare and cook
