What film did you watch last night?

Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator. Hysterical. I found it to be much better than his sequel Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. Highly recommend The Dictator. The other one? Not so much.
I'm pretty sure that his "sequel" was actually the sequel to Borat : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borat . /pedant
"Subsequent" is the only one I've seen. Didn't like the sound of Borat very much at all: Dictator sounds like a cleverer kinda thing, will try to watch it one day.

"Subsequent" was a very unusual film which I really enjoyed, but I can imagine being non-plussed if I'd watched it in the wrong mood!

Last night we watched "Wandering Earth", a Chinese apocalyptic sci fi epic in which the sun has started expanding so there's a major (to say the least) international effort to pilot the earth to Alpha Centauri. It's flawed in a good many ways but I rather enjoyed it and didn't wince too much at the absurdities of science. Probably better in subtitles as we had the kung fu style dodgy dubbing version. It looked fantastic with the CGI frozen earth needing heated space suits to go out into the -70C surface. There's a space station near jupiter with repair job reminiscent of "Gravity", family drama for underground survivors on Earth, a "wages-of-fear" journey to bring the magic thing to restart the "engines" And all the rest. Had some cheesy moments but I liked it. Not as up it's own arse, nor quite as silly as Interstellar say, Extra point for referencing "Roche limit" (I think more or less correctly) without explaining nor degenerating into technibabbe

Correct. Subsequent is the sequel to Borat. I liked the first. Didn't like the second. Strange that you watched the second and not the first.

Tzameti - 9/10

Very French, very tense. I don't want to give too much away but it builds and builds and never lets up. I felt like I hadn't taken a breath for an hour by the end. My girlfriend described it "like stepping on a landmine".

Weirdly it was remade (as 13) in English, by the same director, who has apparently tweaked it a bit. I'm going to watch that this evening to see how they compare.

Hmmm. ... <googles> ...

I hope you like Ray Winstone, 50 Cent, Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham. I think I know what kind of remake you've been watching ...
