Gemini Man.

It's all been done before really. Its little more than an ethnic Jason Bourne remake. To be fair, Will Smith goes through the motions well enough, but the film just lacks pizzazz. Clive Owen really cant be bothered to make an effort - hed clearly already banked his fee and just wanted to get out of there to spend it.

6/10. It gets an extra point for having lots of Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

"Jo Jo Rabbit". Can't spell the directors name. Strange, brilliant, moving and disturbing. Takes you through a range of emotions from laugh out loud to wondering, "should I laugh?" But feel like I've just had a kick in the nuts.

10/10 Best film I've seen this year

Wrong Turn - 7/10

One of the better horror films from the early 2000s, and probably over-looked because then came the Saw series and Eli Roth's "torture porn" swaggering all over the place like they'd invented something new.

Anyway, it's hardly original, but it has some inventive deaths and the inbred mutant monsters look excellent, which you'd expect from Stan Winston Studios. There are a couple of scenes which defy belief, but overall it's a fun take on a well worn genre.

We went to see that in the pictures expecting some undemanding sub-Bond entertainment. We didn't stay to the end

I saw the BBC had given Eurovision Song Contest: The story of Fire Saga an especially low rating so decided to watch it on Netflix. I thought it was fun - a light rom-com based around Eurovision. The staging of the acts was great (no surprise to learn that Eurovision insiders helped with the film) and there were loads of Eurovision cameos. Pierce Brosnan and Graham Norton added to the whole thing. Great shots of Edinburgh, driving up Cockburn St to get to the NEC - as one does.

Will Gompertz is a pompous arse

not last night but last week... The Plan, a spin-off movie of the re-imagined Battlestar Gallactica TV series... absolute pants! For fans of the TV show, this adds nothing. 2/10

On Deadly Ground.

In the grand scheme it's a bit sheet. No real plot, Michael Caine merely going through the motions as a bad guy. But in terms of improbable action and Steven Segal slapping anyone who so much as blinks, its second only to Exit Wounds.

Crap, but compellingly entertaining crap.

6.5/10.

I watched this last night and loved every second. It was just a little bit of joy in a grey summer. We've been singing the songs all morning although I can never hit 'the Bjork note'.

It's made me want to go to Iceland again!! Just brilliant.

We watched "ZZ Top: that little ol' band from Texas"

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9015306/
It's a documentary about the story of said band, who've amazingly been going with the same line-up for 50 years.
It was a joy to watch, and was a real movie rather than a mere documentary. They'd cut in loads of archive footage, not just of the band, but of Texas in the 60s etc, cut with interviews of the band members, and others who they'd worked with, a few animations to help the story along, and some great music, theirs and other blues or psychedelic bands they'd been influenced by.

Whilst I like ZZ top, I'm not really a fan as such, so it's something to enjoy for anyone vaguely interested in music

As I indicated above, it's watchable as a film in its own right

Highly recommended !
