Can anyone give me ideas what to eat and drink when doing my longer bike rides? At the moment i am eating powerbars and using lucozade sport in one drinks bottle and water in the other drinks bottle.
I was wondering if anyone had any cheaper alternatives that mean i don't run out of energy miles from home.

fig rolls. And I've just made a batch of honey flapjacks - from >>>this<<< site
Though more recently I've been sampling various insects and the occasional taster of horse poop - which is all free or course!

+1 for making your own flapjack/cereal bars, I add dried cranberries, apricot, raisins and sultanas and add a range of different seeds. Hugh Fernley-Wotsit gives a good base recipe and you can change it to taste; http://www.channel4.com/4food/recip...ingstall/honey-and-peanut-butter-booster-bars

Cheaper than lucozade sport, fill your bottles with 1/3 orange juice (tropicana type stuff) 2/3 water and a small pinch of sea salt.
