But don't forget to remove the adjoining spoke too, so the rim stays true. And also the 2 spokes diagonally opposite to keep it rounded. HTH.At last - a sensible suggestion.

In fairness, I think I have to say, this wheel is elderly and has been horribly abused. It's a proper road wheel - nothing fancy, low end Ritchey, but not designed for the kinds of roads my daughter's been riding lately. Terrible pot-holeage. It was never designed for this. And I must have got at least five years out of it - must have come off an ebay bike. Probably lasted a decade on London roads, give or take. Fair do's.This is the second such thread in as many weeks. What are they making modern wheels out of? I used to think wheels would last the lifetime of a bike . Or is this just a thing with new fangled super fast lightweight wheels?
Isn't it nice when friends rally round! But don't forget to remove the adjoining spoke too, so the rim stays true. And also the 2 spokes diagonally opposite to keep it rounded. HTH.
Come to think of it, I'll take out a couple at 3 o clock and 9 o clock too. Keep things even, like.Isn't it nice when friends rally round!
He'll have no brake though.
Odd isn't it. When I worked in a bike shop (late 80s) I recall that the super skinny (20mm) aluminium racing rims of that time could crack (including mine) so it did happen, although it was always at the very edge of the rim, creeping into the braking surface. I can't recall seeing any of those older rims fail around the spoke area.
For blending in I'd favour painted papier mâché .A wodge of silicone bathroom sealant should do the job. Throw a handful of road dirt over it afterwards to help the colour blend in. Will hold up fine, don't worry about it.
Or possibly a whole lot of brake all at once. He'll have no brake though.
There is that possibility.Or possibly a whole lot of brake all at once.
Spoke seems fine, the rim is another matter.Get shopping for a new wheel. If that spoke is iffy, what are the others like?
