I've got a no-name stick blender that cost £6. It's brilliant for making mayonnaise. I also use it for mixing up diluted PVA solutions to add to cement. Washing-up afterwards is the work of a moment...….stick the business end in water and press the button.
We have three, an attachment for the Kenwood chef, an attachment for the magimix and a hand blender.
The hand blender is the only one that ever gets used, mainly for soups and curries.
