When I commute I have a wee Edinburgh bike Co-op Revo Stow-Lite rucksack on ma back so I can put anything I need to carry in there. I have two spare tubes in there along with all the other crud I carry.
When I'm out on a training run I obviously don't take the rucksack so I move everthing required such as the tubes into the 750ml spare waterbottle on its holder. Multi-tool, puncture repair kit, tubes, tyre levers etc.
However, I find most mechanical issues can be solved easily at the side of the road with one important and priceless component - The mobile phone.
Call the missus or best mate and get them to come out and pick me up in the event of any breakdown.
Hasn't failed me yet.
