I always take a pump, levers, inner tube, puncture outfit and multi-tool. Also a tenner, a couple of Rennie and Nurofen, phone and an energy bar. It sounds a lot but it all fits in my rear pockets without looking ridiculous or being uncomfortable.

Saddle bag - A tube, multi tool, tyre levers, batteries.

Pockets - food, phone

Bike- pump and bottles.

Thinking about it, I should really take some money.

This is all i take on any length ride. Saddle bags are my pet hate. I want to kick people off bikes when I see one.
I would normally ride with a jacket stuffed in a jersey pocket but weather forecast app is decent.

Always 2 water bottles half sugary stuff half water.
Left jersey pocket
Spare tube
Pocket pump

Middle pocket
Bananas or welsh cakes

Right jersey pocket
Music/Ostrava phone and some money.

Why do you hate saddle bags?

Personally, I wouldn't not have one as stuffing pockets is just uncomfortable!

I have a Topeak Dynapack saddlebag attached to the seat post on my tourer/commuter, containing:
  • Mini multi-tool
  • A selection of cable-ties
  • 2 tyre levers
  • 2 spare tubes
  • A mini-pump
  • Wallet, keys and phone
  • A few disposable citrus wipes for when the hands get greasy
There's room for a bit more when needed, plus I can fit a folded cycling jacket under a strap which runs along the top of the saddlebag (the strap also serves as a handle for carrrying the bag).

Pretty well as everybody else takes, as little as possible, but always take whatever tool I used the night before for that last minute maintenance tweak. It's so easy to hit a pot hole and something comes loose or slips.

+ mobile phone as the ultimate fall back
And a Four Leaf clover, handed down from my dad.

Here it is. My sister found it in the 60's and gave it to our Dad who kept it his wallet when he went cycling. He passed away over 20 years ago and it came to me. It's a bit delicate now, so doesn't always travel with me, but I keep it in my cycling wallet for when I go on special rides.

Not superstitious, but I have survived the odd tumble!

Happy cycling
