Never tried Campag so not able to comment.
But I run SRAM X9 on my MTB and it has been faultless since day one.
Tried SRAM APEX on a bike I was using while in Italy a little while back. Again shifting was very precise and smooth, but it took a while to get used to the actual shifters.
Both my roadies run Shimano Ultegra, again with both bikes gear changing is very precise, smooth and fast.
