Slow dodgy index. Try removing the rear outer cable on the rear mech. Clean & re grease. On reinstalling the outer cable refit the wrong way round.

In other words the decals on the outer cable should face outwards. As the cable could be worn fit having the decals on the cable facing inwards.

Edit: or just replace the rear outer cable on the rear mech if you have some knocking about. Dont use brake outer cable !!!!

I can't think of a single reason why this would be a good thing to do.

As I said, the cables are new anyway, so it doesn't matter. I have had the bike 2 years but it hasn't done a large amount of mileage, I'd be amazed if I'd passed 700 miles to be honest.
