I wouldn't buy from eBay - go and sit on a few in a shop and if you must, buy online, then get it built by a bike shop (not Halfords, most are run by idiots).

You might be better off with a hybrid - won't be as fast but if you have a lot of stuff, you can mount a rack/panniers on it. You won't be able to do that with a bike like you want.

You can mount rack+ panniers on the virtuoso , and although you are against Halfords my local one is very good with knowledgeable staff who do put the bikes together right.

I will be selling a second hand TDF very soon if you fit a 54 ish frame? , i use a seat post rack to carry my stuff.

I want a road bike because i can use it in summer then when it snows ill take my mtb, i dont want a hybrid because

A) I wont be caryying anyting (6th form)
B) Dont realy like the look of them

But the road bike has disadvantages as well

A) Cant go off road to save time
B) Cant jump off cerbs
C) Ive always worked on Mtbs, But they might be easy

We see many posts about cyclists RLJ, cycling off pavements into traffic without looking , cycling dangerously on pavements endangering pedestrians etc etc .

I have had a cyclist jump off the pavement in front of me without looking nearly causing an accident , not that i am saying you would do any of these things.

Technically no as a static speed camera cannot idenity you , but you can be charged with furious/ dangerous cycling if the police saw you and wanted to be awkward .

Not at all. My local Halfords is very good (and in fact, I trust them more than my local bike shop, which is run by people somebody found in a cave), just that the majority of Halfords "Bike Experts" are in fact squeaky voiced 16 year old school dropouts who can't tell their arse from their elbow.
