Inuse the x tools one posted earlier. Little more expensive than the cheap ones, but I like that it only has 2 legs. No complaints from me.

I got the one Lidl sold six or seven years ago. It was disappointing, with clamp fittings that didn't stay in place, swivelling downwards as you put the bike on it. I eventually had to drill it and put a bolt through to stop it, but then the height adjusters stopped working. It's now been relegated to washing duties.
I bit the bullet and bought this one
The cheaper ones are OK, but the Best One for not much more - c £50 up - is the Bike Tool, or X-Tools, or Raleigh workstand - they are all the same stand, sold under numerous different brand names.

and it's far better.

However, the leg configuration means that you have to be careful with a heavy bike. Occasionally it will tip sideways.

This style is undoubtedly the most stable and safest (for the price). No prospect of damaging the frame with the clamp on the tripod versions. Perfect for cleaning the bike and doing most maintenance as the frame is held rigid in relation to the ground. The tripod/claw is just not stiff enough.

I've one of those and it works well if the bike fits it. My wife's Raleigh has too much of a curve and it tended to slip. The BB on my Claud Butler seems to be too narrow and slips to one side. But when it works, as on my BSO, it is superb. I think some design work needs to be done on the bracket at the bottom.

I tried on of those Torex type ones and it was Ok for steel bikes, up to a point. As @mybike says it slips too easily For carbon bikes where you want to spin the cranks to adjust gears and so on, you need to have a very strong stable one that clamps to the seatpost. I ended up going out in frustration to my nearest shop (Halfords) and spending £100 or so on a Bikehut one. It is good, but not fantastic. As with most things, you get what you pay for.

I also use a cheap one from Halfords - same as the one a previous poster linked but it has 4 legs. They're sturdy enough for when you need to take a hammer to a stubborn BB which is good enough for me although the plastic tray is best removed as it just gets in the way when rotating cranks for mech adjustments/chain cleaning..

I have an action sports work stand, one of their cheap models, was a Christmas gift.
A quality work stand is a game changer would never go without one now.

I was in Halfords earlier and they had stands in for £40 . Looked just like the one I got from Aldi about five years ago, which has taken a real hammering and is still good
