Ahh yes - more of a styilised '80s horror film vibe IIRC; will give it another listen a bit later

EDIT: Can confirm, too hectic for a fragile Tuesday morning in the office

Oh yeah, big time. Dark/synth wave perfection. Enjoy when you get to it!

This ungolden oldie is not just left field, more like three fields over and next to the municipal dump.

"The North Will Rise Again" by The Fall.

A convoluted tale of an uprising that was manipulated by a business opportunist.

M.E.Smith Lyrics below

When it happened we walked through all the estates, from Manchester right to Newcastle.
In Darlington, helped a large man on his own chase off some kids
Who were chucking bricks and
Stuff through his flat window. She had a way with people like that.
He cussed us and we moved on.

'Junior Choice' played one morning.
The song was 'English Scheme.'
Mine. They'd changed it and did a grand piano and turned it into a love song. How they did it I don't know.
DJs had worsened since the rising. Elaborating on nothing and praising the track
With words they could hardly pronounce, in telephone voices.

I was mad, and laughed at the same time. The West German Government
Had brought over large yellow trains on Teesside docks.
In Edinburgh, I stayed on my own a few days, wandering about in the pissing rain,
Before the Queen Mother hit town.

I'm Joe Totale
The yet unborn son
The North will rise again
The North will rise again
Not in 10,000 years
Too many people cower to criminals
And government crap
The estates stick up like stacks
The North will rise again
The North will rise again
The North will rise again
The North will rise again
(You are mistaken friend)
Look where you are
Look where you are
The future death of my father

Shift!

Tony was a business friend
Of RT XVII
And was an opportunist man
Come, come hear my story
How he set out to corrupt and destroy
This future Rising

The business friend came round today
With teeth clenched, he grabbed my neck
I threw him to the ground
His blue shirt stained red
The north will rise again.
He said you are mistaken, friend
I kicked him out of the home
Too many people cower to criminals
And that government pap
When all it takes is hard slap

I was lucky enough to see them back in 1978, then plenty of other times after that, including the 1980's two drummer lineup and the last night of Bramah in 1990, my fav era is from "Slates" to "Perverted By Language", but there are plenty of other gems. Like this:

Dr Buck's Letter

M.E.Smith Lyrics below

I lost my temper with a friend
I mocked him
Mocked him and treated him
With rudeness
And though I tried to make amends
Still I miss him and walk a dark corridor
Then opened the post one morning
Woke up one morning
Doctor Bucks' letter
Of my own making, I walk a dark corridor o'er my heart
Hoping one day a door will be ajar
At least so we can recompense
Our betrayal of our hard won friendship
In vulgar and arrogant abeyance
To what was untrue underneath our parlance
I open the envelope
Doctor Bucks' letter
Re: Welfare Benefits reports
We also concerned
This means that A-Board will not be able to recover the legal fees
Paid by them, behalf
J. McCarthy, approximately ten-fifteen days
I got down, I was depressed
It was Doctor Buck's letter
Turn the radio on
Of my own making
Of my own making
To cheer myself up
Put the radio on, get the magazine out
And read about
The 'Essence of Tong'
Checklist, I never leave home without
One, sunglasses
I wear them all year around
And seem to need them more often
It's a habit
Music
Cassettes, CDs
Three, Palm Pilot
It's my lifeline
I think it's my P.A.'s computer
She rules my diary and I download it
Four, mobile phone
Five, Amex card
They made such a fuss about giving it to me
But I, I spend more time getting it turned down
I was in the realm of the essence of Tong
