I find it difficult to get into Opeth, I like the music, but can't really get on with the voices.

You'll probably enjoy their newer stuff more then in that case. They've dropped the whole death metal gig. Though the song writing isnt as good or as dynamic as their older material. Theyve gone full on 70s/80s prog rock.
I personally always liked the way they switched between the cleans and shouty vocals.
