The record deal for Beverly was set up by Paul Simon, in the meantime she'd married John and they travelled together to the states to record the album.
Don't get me wrong I'm a massive fan of John Martyn's music but as for the man, he was a nasty piece of work. There is an interview in a documentary (possibly 'Johnny Too Bad') where Beverly tells the story but it has always been known that what was supposed to be a solo record by her ended up as a joint recording.

Count your blessings, it was Kansas, Leftoverture to be precise.

That was Blood Sweat & Tears, eponymous album from 1968.

Sorry @User259 Don't know what went on there. Its Leftoverture by Kansas.
Love the original as well... but the Meters are a favourite and they kind of made this one like they wrote it themselves....
Beautiful vocals.... and great pauses....
