They count for me, its much harder to do 25 miles on the turbo than on the road, physically and mentally.

How can you do miles on a bike that does not move. You are exercizing not riding miles.I hope static bike miles count?!!

Each to their own but I don't get it.
So you are not going forward or upIf you use 'Zwift' (I don't but understand why some people do) your static bike even registers elevation
I wouldn't want to be 1200m above the fens!If you use 'Zwift' (I don't but understand why some people do) your static bike even registers elevation
Used to be doing 250 plus over a four day weekend, commuting to/from work.Yes, per here https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/walking-and-cycling-statistics
I bet there aren't many on here that average 60 miles a day (if any)[
Personally I don't think they do. Best summed up by one of our female club members "l've done xxxx miles this year, that's real miles."
I acknowledge turbos must be mentally very tough and it needs real determination but I see it as exercise not cycling. I couldn't do it. Myself I go spinning when I can't get out on the bike.

True, but it's still not cycling. Like boxers training using a punchbag instead of a proper opponent. The new smart trainers are more bearable and a good alternative
It does the same damage to your skin, and gives you the same risk of cancer, so I say "go for it!"Next you'll both be saying that a sun tan from a sunbed isn't a proper tan.
