I agree; Karen Carpenter had a sort of crystal clarity to her voice that doesn't come around too often. She had just an absolutely beautiful, stunning voice. FYI, here's a performance that in many ways reminds me of her voice -particularly the opening:

Watching them on the telly, I was always a bit uncomfortable with the chemistry between her and Richard, given they were brother and sister.

It all looked a bit creepy to me.

Anyone else think the same?

That guitar solo is just awesome. I play it quite often, but not as well as that.

I always thought that Richard looked a bit creepy anyway. My Mother loved The Carpenters but thought Richard was a strange bloke. She loathed Gary Glitter and Jimmy Saville too and she was not wrong about them. She said that there was a 'whiff of incest' about The Carpenters. I was a kid and had no idea what she meant until I was older. Can't say that I noticed it really, myself but there does seem something a tad 'off'.
