The pedals on my two road bikes cost more than £100 a pair........

The bloody tires cost more than £50 a pair..... like comparing a Trabant to a Ferrari.....

People think you are nuts, but when you explain that the type of riding you do would destroy a cheap bike very quickly, they then appreciate the cost a bit more.....

For your delectation, it is in Argos Autumn/winter catalogue, Challenge/Oriana 332/1061.

Did I mention the front wheel was out of true already? (mileage ridden < 1 mile :o)

I'll raise you to £ 132.40 (ex mil Land Rover, twin underseat 10 gallon tanks and two 5 gallon jerry cans in the back). Oh, and if I get 15 mph then that is a good day, probably single figures off road!

On one occasion the man in the petrol station came out to see what I was doing when I was filling up one of the underseat tanks!

Someone on here was posting updates on how brilliant his £50 road bike from Toys R Us was going recently, with regular mileage updates. He got to 200 miles and then disappeared.

I wonder what happened?

We have a guy at work with one of those (except he brought his before they were reduced). He's had it maybe 6 or 8 months..i asked him the other day, how are you getting on with it ?
No problems was the reply...he rides it in to work most days, it still looks ok.

Not an FF. What do you think I am? Made of money??? ;)

I think I can raise you and see your £132.

My ex Bruvva in law had a Bayliner 'Bowrider' Skiboat. 30 gallon tank. 3 x 5 gallon gerrycans.
A Land Rover Discovery which drank 3/4 tank getting to Aberdovey and back.
A day's outing with slipway fees etc came to nearly £500.

The moral of the tale is :- I bought a used SWorks for £900, which was the equivalant of two weekend's waterskiing.

I've ridden it to Aberdovey twice to watch the waterskiing. Still got the bike, but the ex B i L had to drop the boat.

Bike wins again.....

You can refuel these one's while on the move from jerrycans. ;)

Wife has a cheap DS MB(Similar to the £100 one ) - Bought it about 7 years ago. It's done about 1400 miles with no problems (May have been on the Car Cycle Carrier for 1385 miles though !)

It's still in the shed - One day she may want to use it again but at least we didn't spend £££ on something she wouldn't use.
