My worst car was a Simca 1000.

Albeit it was cheap when I bought it secondhand but the faults kept piling up.

The drivers seat collapsed and I had the seat back propped up with a piece of 2 x 2.

The clutch slave cylinder required bleeding every two weeks (yes I should have bought a new cylinder)

It was as slow as anything and drank petrol

Simca 1000. There was a novelty pop song in the 90s in Spain called "It is really hard to make love in a Simca 1000"

I had one of those, funnily enough the clutch needed bleeding weekly too, and on those rare hot days as soon as the engine was turned off, the petrol in the pipe to the carb would evaporate, so it wouldn't start until it cooled down, the seats were so uncomfortable too

As I mentioned upthread,
a pal's mum had one (or an 1100) and it was a delight to drive. I was asked to test drive it and confirmed that the clutch was indeed shot. My pal ignored my advice to get it fixed pdq, and shortly after it really really failed and as a result had the extra cost of a flywheel skim as well.

Funny how people get at rosy spectacled about things. Cars you don't see anymore is a FB site, quite popular and a Simca got a mention this last week.
No one talked about its bad points (usually because those commenting had probably never ever sat in one, let alone owned one)

I had a Mazda 626 with a sunroof as a company car, if you slid the lining back it let in some extra light, and in winter if you tilted it then set the air conditioning right you had fresh air without any draughts.

When it was replaced with a Mazda 6 that only had a sunroof on the top spec, my budget would allow for a top spec 1.8 petrol, or a 2.0 in the one below, and as both had climate control the extra 20bhp swung it.

And despite that, from the outside, with no actual knowledge of them....I always liked the look of them.

Most surprised, we had one that was written off twice and very rarely needed anything. Went to 13 countries over its time in the family.

You can be lucky or unlucky. Mine burns oil, 1200 miles a litre. In two years I've had a replacement gearbox, wheel bearing, ABS sensor
Have to say I have no memory at all of Simca cars.

I had use of a Simca van when I worked for a London borough. It was not a bad motor and my one abiding memory was that it had an outstanding heater with an infinately variable fan

My worst car was a Datsun 120Y. It was old but all I could afford at the time - I paid £400 for it. Wherever you parked it, it would leave a small pile of rust behind. I used to have to park it on a hill, in case it rained. If it did actually rain, then it wouldn’t start and I’d have to bump start it down the hill. I only owned it for about 6 months, and I got £100 part exchange for it. I swapped it for a Nissan Micra.

A mate of mine had an Austin Allegro. He was driving down the road one day, when he was overtaken by one of his own wheels, which had somehow detached itself from the car!
