I smell mock offence here, Wetherspoons hasn't reached Boldon yet, and you have Pete Zulu and his grassed floors to keep you amused.I am deeply hurt and offended

Whilst Wetherspoons have saved the facade of many buildings that may otherwise have changed significantly, they have ripped the heart out of many. There are a few exceptions though which is about the only good thing I see they do.
As for visiting any. Their clientele are not generally characters I tend to mix with.
I daresay that over the last 40+ years of pub visits, I may have inadvertently contributed to the retirement fund of some less than upstanding citizens of the world. I don't know; I never ask for personal character references of the publican prior to entering the premises. Tim Martin may not be perfect, but he is in the business of making money. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, etc..I don't visit any because of the owner.
exactly - am pretty sure that pretty much all the antis on here don't rigorously check out the proclivities of the bosses of their favoured retail/entertainment etc outlets.I daresay that over the last 40+ years of pub visits, I may have inadvertently contributed to the retirement fund of some less than upstanding citizens of the world. It is literally impossible to live an entirely ethical and blameless life in this putrid shithole that is modern capitalist society, but some of us are at least trying to make the best out of a bad job.I daresay that over the last 40+ years of pub visits, I may have inadvertently contributed to the retirement fund of some less than upstanding citizens of the world. WTF? I haven't been "drunk" for a lot of years now, but I do enjoy a visit to the pub. If I DID want to get drunk cheaply, there are much cheaper alternatives to the pub, even at Tim Martin's prices. As long as you get drunk cheaply then who cares eh ?
He's never been around when I've visited a Wetherspoons.I don't visit any because of the owner.
Hang about long enough and you might meet him. Apparently he aims to visit around 20 of his pubs each week! But with 900+ pubs in the UK now, it's going to take him the best part of a year to get round them all. Now that's a pub crawl .He's never been around when I've visited a Wetherspoons.
