Chainsaw Chain Oil

This, I mixed mine with mineral oil to reduce viscosity, but suspect the ratio of mineral oil needs reducing. It works very well and doesn’t get washed out at the first hint of rain.

Hey I checked the first page on this sub forum and the closest I could find was "dirty chain". If a cycle home mechanic sub-forum isn't for discussing chain lube, then what's the point? 😂

GT85 winter, summer, any old time of the year. That said I'm retired and actually find bike cleaning therapeutic so my bike gets cleaned thoroughly after every ride. I do 3 x 3 hour rides a week so cleaned three times a week. It looks and feels the same every ride, pretty much. However, I've got a pub bike too and that doesn't get cleaned anything like as much. Keep it dirty and hopefully no one will nick it but it's still sprayed with GT85.

I do my own oil and filter changes on car and motorbike. There's always some left-over oil. That gets used on bike chains. Pour a little onto a cloth, run chain through cloth, run chain through another cloth to get rid of any excess oil. Job done.

Probably even older. I found it in my old dad's shed when we cleaned his effects out 7 years back. I believe I bought it from Oscrofts Cycles in Friern Barnet when I still lived at home, and I moved out 46 years ago.

Drip Wax (Tru Tension BananaSlip or Squirt) a lot less hassle than full wax to setup but has a lot of the benefits, principally everything is cleaner and things last longer.

See photo. Very pleased with this item BUT I only ride my bikes when there’s no sign of rain so I cannot vouch for how good it may or not be in wet conditions.
Bought at a favourable price too, £5.50 for this 125 ml size.

The intial preparation for hot waxing can be a faff, unless you use the Silca Strip Chip, but thereafter there is no looking back. But the most important factor, the increase in the chain life really is quite dramatic !!
