Not everyone ben, mustn't assume we're all like that, but then it only takes a few to spoil everything for everyone else! Bit like life really...

Too many pies? Is the car sitting that bit lower than it should?

Hmm ... certainly when we head off camping or with the bikes on the back with 5 people in the car I sometimes wonder.... but we certainly don't take the speed bumps at speed the road is supposed to be ... usually about 10 mph lower and no we don't then hit the accelerator to the next set of bumps either.

As a cyclist I don't like them ... there are the ones that are just sharp humps that go right across the road and aren't marked by a change in colour etc and caused a friend to break some fingers when she came off on her bicycle, there are the ones that effectively make you go over them or go into the gutter to avoid them ... one of the ones I hate is on an access road to the Bristol to Bath cycle path and its just about 2 ft deep cobbles which can be slippy and yet the amount of traffic going through that cul-de-sac makes them pointless (unless they are supposed to be slowing the cyclists down).

My favourite type of traffic control is the blocked off streets that pedestrians and cyclists can use but that cars are forced to go around.

Allowing monkeys with shovels contractors to set the speed limits by building barricades across the road is, thankfully, not an alternative that too many councils have explored.

Few of them around here (barricades that is, not shovelling monkeys - errr..no, there's some of them too..). The more sensibly designed ones have a narrow lane in the gutter area so there is no need to play chicken with cars.
