I'm a bit late but +1 for keeping further out. As well as the above comments, you were asking to be doored passing parked cars so closely and while in the gutter you're harder to spot by vehicles exiting a side road. Motorists don't see recumbents very often so tend to give you a wide berth and this only happens if you can be seen.

Like i said, it was my first ever ride literally on a trike, i had mountain bikes till 2004 and not ridden at all since then. We all live and learn, by the way, my neighbour actually praised me on my first ride especially for taking to a main busy road.

Trikes have a real learning curve but it's well worth the effort. I love riding both of mine.

Just been out on test number 2 with some hills for first time, for some reason my boom inched itself in although i did tighten it. Once that is sorted another day i will try 3rd time lucky test video.

I have a dashcam on the car and listening to your clip reminds me why I turn the sound recorder off.
