"Parkin or perkin is a gingerbread cake traditionally made with oatmeal and black treacle, which originated in northern England. Often associated with Yorkshire, particularly the Leeds area..."
Only if you own oneOK, can I bake one in the breadmaker ?
How'd you bake half a loaf?We have a bread maker it's called me I find best results are had by using an oven to bake things. I once tried but found I was not up to baking a whole one.
A tea cake without raisins in it is a bun. I know cos a toasted teacake is standard café stop food round here....and that includes Lancashire, Staffordshire, Cheshire...as well as YerkshaI love Parkin and was surprised to find it isn’t available nationally. The nation is really missing out!
If Parkin isn’t a cake then what is it?
And obviously Tea Cakes have fruit in them. If you want tea cakes without fruit you just ask for plain tea cakes.
The world outside Yorkshire certainly is odd.
This is the M4 between Cardiff and Swansea, spotted this painted on the road, I didn't know they felt quite this strongly about parkin but there's the proof.

Warburtons(Lancashire),Sorry, but here hot cross buns have raisins in them
As there are no other buns of any description apart from hot cross buns to be had, raisins must be normal
Tea cakes, on the other hand, are a biscuit base, chocolate covered, marshmallow dome
Nice that you're back @threebikesmcginty!
