Railways mean a lot to me too Hackers, coming from a family full of rail workers.
My Grandfather worked at Gypsy Hill station all his working life..

First as a barrow boy, retiring in the 70's as station master.

Passengers do realise it's nothing to do with drivers, and I have hardly ever seen people give stick to drivers, rather then station staff who would rather go into hiding rather then face up passengers with any help/information, as happened last night.

SWT.We had a horrendous year last year with trains catching fire.I was lucky though. They had to do a modification.
Amazing how much snow/ice builds up underneath.

450,444,455,158,159,458.

I remember in the snow they sent me down on a very early train.(last year)I looked on it as a suicide mission.
I didn't expect to get to my destination and the way it was going it looked like I was right.
Somehow I got there though.

Favourite and least favourite amongst those? (professional query here - not spotting or idle curiosity)

Probably desiros although they are very troublesome with their computers sometimes.
Saying that the computer was a useful tool during my breakdown the other day.
458 has a very temperamental and slow computer. The computer is well over ten years old.
458,455 158 and 159.

Im slightly happier with 158 and 159 but I dont know them as well as I know 455's
which I have been driving for 20+ years.
