Yep, well done South Eastern trains.

Couldn't cycle commute today for obvious reasons. So decided to get the train(s).

Turned up at Orpington Station fearing the worse as usual at times like these.
But... no cancellations & no late trains. SE Trains obviously put in some hard work, took notice of the weather forecast and prepared themselves for the weather.

However, let's see what happens with this evenings train(s) home.

The DLR as usual is bombproof, nothing stops that line from running.

Total sh*te out my way Ian. Trains suffering major disruption or in a more honest world, there are no trains! I had to get the bus to North Greenwich and a tube in.

I'm not going in at all tomorrow. Laptop and PC in my home office is as far as I go!!!

took me 3 hours to get home.

As I guessed, the DLR was working perfect as usual.
Got to Lewisham and it was complete madness. No trains. nothing. And as per usual no information apart from the stock "due to adverse weather conditions...yadda yadda...."

Tried to get a bus but that wasn't happening either.
So back to the station to see what might turn up.

Luckily after an half hour wait a train for Sidcup turned up. Get on that and get to Hither Green.
Took about 15 minutes to travel one stop.

Got to Hither Green and there was an Orpington train on the platform. Filled up to the gills with passengers.
Managed to squeeze on to be told the train had been at the platform for 20 minutes due to a couple of trains
breaking down further down the line. Another 20 minutes and we were on our way, very slowly. A 15 minute train journey took near an hour.

Got to Orpington at 7.30 and walked the mile and half home. The snow in places is about a foot deep. There are a good few abandoned cars on the roads and even though our road was well gritted as it's a bus route. The snow has settled.

So I am staying at home tommorow. And Clive, I advise you do the same. The trains are going to be fekked.

S London copped it really hard by all accounts. On t'other side of town and up into the S Midlands we had a wee bit of snow but London Midland coped admirably.

It was shockingly bad and it just about sums up the press and gullible people who read and believe that crap.

Frozen rails? I think most of the rails on SWT were frozen did they actually mean frozen points?
I found that comment really irritating do they deliberately report it that badly and it's not the first time I have seen this sort of thing unless of course they mean a frozen juice rail.

FFS If you are going to slag off the railway at least get yer fekking railway facts right.(The press I mean)

Awfully bad form that the driver couldn't push the train up the track.Bad training I say.

I had a train breakdown (my first in almost 4 years) the other day and it's not always a pleasant experience as opposed to sitting in an office thinking "my god the trains are shagged again".

Sometimes I think a nice office job would do me good then I could spout shyte on here all day.

Hackers, I am more then aware at the crap rail employees receive. Most of it unfounded. The train driver last night did her very best to keep us informed as to the situation and to get us home. It's the first time that I have seen rail lines completely hidden by snow. I haven't read the Standard as I it's probably sensationalist crap.

I was not comparing any service, merely highlighting that the DLR is a brilliant service and proved so last night.

So calm yer boots down, get into work and get clearing some platforms...

No problems Ian just the railways mean a lot to me and some of the guff I read is unfair and really bad.Seems like it's fuelled by the press.

I wouldn't like to be that train driver if he had been stuck there so long and yes I know the passengers take a lot of $hyte.(Which I don't want to see,but it's not deliberate)...Theres no way I want to run a train late but sometimes I have to adopt defensive driving when it gets dicey out there.

When I was running round the train on Sunday trying to isolate brakes on a troublesome coach I was well aware of the delay this was causing to my train (and passengers) and other trains behind.Luckily for me I wasn't in a bad location.(I stopped About ten yards from the entrance to the platform) when the brakes came fully on.

Not something I wanted obviously because it's just easier sitting in my cab picking my nose.I was also expecting some sort of trouble for my bosses because although I got the train moving in 15 minutes there was a lot of delay.
