Tasty bike there

But lose the reflectors, it'll make it easier uphill with less weight

On that note then what about the perspex rear wheel guard?

After trying on loads of shoes, in the end I was given a real good deal on a pair of Spesh Expert Road shoes and Shimano 105 pedals. Tried them out today and what a difference they make to riding, they make the hills not quite so much of a daunting challenge. I can defiinitely feel a difference. I chose the Expert over the Comp because I wanted a stiffer carbon sole and the Boa system because they were the only shoes to fit me properly. ( high instep).

So far, no clip-in moments, in fact I was very surprised at how easy they were to get in and out of. Going to sort out some old slippers or socks to stick over them while I walk from the house to the road over a gravel drive.

Thanks for the heads-up Paul, much appreciated.

As for losing the reflectors and rear wheel guard, I saved the weight by emptying my pockets out  .

lol.

Points taken chaps, and thanks.

Nice looking bike and, as has been said up-thread, it's the right one for you because it felt the most right to you.

I'd also agree with those who have said to wait before even thinking of changing the gearing - you will be surprised at how quickly you develop some cycling muscles

and the hills will not necessarily get easier - you'll just get up them quicker !

Then you'll look for the next steeper one ... and so it continues ...

Thanks Scoosh.

I'm hoping you're right about those flamin' hills, but I've already noticed that I have more "energy", even on the 4 days since buying the bike. Whats was relatively tough on Saturday seemed a lot easier yesterday and today, so fingers crossed on that one.

As for the clipless moments, well I'm sure you're right there too. I'm not looking forward to those moments but hopefully it won't be too bad. For sure it'll happen in front of a load of schoolkids or even worse, my mates ! :headshake:
