Welcome to all.
I am thinking to leave various Facebook cycling groups and instead go old-fashioned, without fake AI agents, too much politics, constant ads, soliciting etc.

I am not really a hardcore cyclist, more of a commuter, with aspirations - I clean my bike often and think about it too much, and keep buying stuff for it, pamper it a bit. Also thinking where I COULD ride, but not doing it much. Even commuting is fun though, imagine being stuck on a bus to work.

Current bikes:
Main one: second hand nice blue Genesis Equilibrium, Disc. 32mm tires. Not sure from which year it is. Added a rack and mudguards, has butterfly handlebars that I like. The previous owner upgraded it a bit - has parts from 105 drivetrain, plus Deore 11 speed shifter and derailleur. I changed to a 42-11 cassette too. Weights probably 11kg with the extra stuff.

Backup: An old Revolution Courier Pursuit, disc brake, quite nice to ride but heavy at around 15kg with all the parts I put on it - rack, mudguards.

Welcome. You might want to watch what the silly AI ads is here show you, as some men often get underwear ads!

But nothing as bad as fakebook's new AI-generated false friends.

Interested to hear of a Revolution Courier Pursuit. My winter bike is a Revolution Streetfinder, with Marathon Winter tyres on.

I’ve lived here for 30 years and have never heard Edinburgh being referred to by that name. Embra, yes, Auld Reekie, yes, even “Edenburgh” (I think it was the council that came up with that one), but never “the ‘burgh”.

I'm from much further North and that's one of the many colloquial nicknames used on the Isles for the fair town of Edinburgh.

My friend Keith is from the Gorbals but he managed to get an O level in something so went over the wall.

Welcome aboard….good to have another fellow cyclist from sunny Edinburgh🤗
As far riding suggestions have been on union canal? On a good day you can ride along all the way to Falkirk wheel & back which is roughly 65miles. Also quite a few places in between for pit stops such as Ratho Linlithgow for refuelling😂
