Hi Spokesmann .... Which particular type and where from ?
When I rebuilt the Weinmann front and rears on my Carlton, I just bought any old black pads from the LBS.
They're OK (but ONLY OK) when dry, but pretty hopeless when wet.
I'm going to upgrade my 27" x 1.1/4" wheels with a pair of new alloys in the next few days, so I'll start off with sets of new pads.
I'd be grateful for your recommendation.
Thanks.

Thanks Gunk.
I'll try the same from ebay.
When I first got the bike in the 1960s, the brake pads were red - almost certainly original Weinmann - and they were much better than the black ones that I recently bought.
What's the difference between black and red ?
Which would you fit for general road use ?

When my Carlton was built (1967 Clubman) it had dimpled chrome rims (Dunlop 'lightweight' I seem to recall) any way it got run over by a lorry in 87 (as did I nearly) and when I rebuilt it I fitted handmade wheels with Aluminium rims, the original brake blocks would have eaten those rims in weeks as they were so abrasive. With Aluminium rims I'd use any 'Clarkes' brake pads (Shimano are too hard) you may not have modern braking with a finger 'over the hood' but a good 'handful' on the lever is OK.

I've used MTB pads on my road bike for a few years, many do, I use Fibrax, they are the company from Wales who make a lot of pads including the Clarks you linked.

Here's a link to the same Fibrax pads as the Clarks, but you can buy two pairs for a lower price:
