I was out yesterday around Stokesley and we cut our ride short, it was colder than I'd expected, the wind was unpleasant, but then to rub salt in our wounds it started to rain .

After struggling to work 4 days last week I just couldn't stomach another windy day but although I didn't want to cycle to work, coming to work in the car has made me surprisingly grumpy.

Perhaps I just don't want to be here

Even stronger wind today. After our 'summer' in April we are now in Autumn? Mind, still no significant rain here for ages. I do look forward to a ride where there's a gentle breeze rather than the howling gale of today...

You want significant rain?? Since I am now without work, I am thinking about hiring myself out as a provider of great amounts of rain . I am not joking; wherever I go, it follows me! I was famous for it when I owned a motorbike. I must be the only guy who can ride to the south of France in constant rain. Pick up a golf club, and down comes the rain. Arrange to go out for a cycle?? No chance; it's bound to be lashing it down!

<<<<<<<< Not for nothing do I have this avatar . It truly is uncanny.

So if you are having a drought in your area, I could arrange to come there for a cycle/barbecue/game of golf and the problem will be solved .

Still having to wear long trousers, a fleece, jacket and gloves for cycling . Is it really only 6 weeks until mid-summers day? So much for global warming oops sorry, it's climate change this week isn't it .

It's just been bl00dy windy here; I got up at 6 to be out the door for 7, when I looked out the window the trees were bending over so I opted out and took the car.

I can ride in rain, sun and hail, but hate riding in the wind

Cycled into the work this morning, very windy and no sun at the start of the ride about a mile from work the sun comes out and the wind dies down, typical. Still enjoyed the ride. Bike got a bit messy though. Managed to give a wee clean at work, will need to get some mudguards.
May is usually not too bad here, but your right, never cast a cloot til Mays oot

Where do you work Moby? I sometimes cycle to work in Glasgow (from Greenock), but haven't attempted it the last couple of weeks due to the weather. The last time I cycled to work was just after Easter when we had that spell of nice weather!

I work in Greenock and take the coast road past the cardwell garden centre to work in the mornings. It's about 7 miles into work. Nice commuting distance in the morning. Usually takes me 30mins.
Not had my bike long and what with the weather its been and now getting married next week and going on honeymoon not had a chance to get some decent miles on the bike.
