Ooh, a blindingly obvious public information page from someone who's likely not ridden a bike in decades. They should stick to divining the weather and leave the rest of it to those that do.

mustn't matter about the ones coming from behind - I have been wasting my time dismounting for those ones

No - oncoming is coming towards you - I don't know what they call the ones about to overtake but they're not 'on coming' ? over taking car / passing car

"Coming towards you". Indeed.

That can be from any direction. It does NOT mean only "coming from your front". Anything overtaking you is "oncoming", as is anything coming from the side towards you. It is the coming towards you that defines it, not the direction of travel. If they are behind you maintaining a reasonably fixed distance, then they are not oncoming (though you still should be aware of them and act appropriately), but if they are traveling significantly faster than you, they are.

I saw a weather warning for cyclists on the Met Office app just now (risk of ice)! I can't remember ever seeing a targeted one like that before.

I had a hunt around and I found THIS PAGE aimed at us. I think that is new too?

I'm glad they are recognising and warning against freezing rain or whatever it's known as.

Doesn't happen often but it's pretty dangerous when it does.
