That is getting to a tempting price. I have heard of a couple of other vfm power meters that are due to be released soon.

Prices look good. Q factor looks not so good, as it seems to put the feet much wider than standard, which ironically, may affect power ;)

Still, can't complain too much for those prices..

One of the guys on here I ride with has stopped using Garmin vectors for that very reason.

Q factor, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q_factor_(bicycles) ummm interesting, and then thier web site states.......

COMPACT AND STURDY

bePRO keeps the standard Q-Factor unchanged to ensure a correct pedal stroke and avoid joint inflammation.

The compact shape of the power meter and the absence of protruding elements ensure maximum protection against accidental impacts, and high aerodynamic efficiency.

Which raises the question of what is a standard Q-Factor ? Then I came across this article http://www.slowtwitch.com/Tech/Stance_Width_2562.html, interesting stuffQ:wacko:

And if you want more http://etheses.bham.ac.uk/5523/1/Disley14PhD.pdf, the opening makes interesting reading "Q Factor represents the horizontal distance between pedals on a bicycle, measured from the outside edge of each crankarm. The action of pedalling is based upon human gait, which utilises a step width lower than standard Q Factors (150mm for road bicycles)" Which I think implies that pedals do not effect Q-Factor but do effect stance or tread.

Q Factor updates. I read more of the company bumff, and they mentioned a Q-factor of 53.5mm ????? Not the 150 mm standard or SRM's quoted 147.5 mm.
So I wrote to them and got this in reply.

"thanks for your message and your comments make us proud.

We're talking about two different Q-Factors: the SRM Q-Factor is referred to Standard sizes talking about crankarms/cranksets, in our case we are talking about the Q-Factor, Standard sizesm referred to the pedals.
The Q-Factor is measured from the outside surface of the crankarm to the axis of the pedal (centre) and this distance is usually 53 mm,
This fundamentally mean that, if you're assisted by a biomechanikal, you don't need to make any kind of changings (cleats, shoes, etc) because our pedals and those ones that you have already installed on your bike (if they respect the standard Q-Factor) have the same size.

Hope to have well understood your question and replied properly.
Wish you a nice day and send you my best regards,""

This response came within the working day, having taken a tape out to the 2 bikes I was thinking of using both running Shimano Ultegra and Look pedals as near as dammit I get 53mm. Well for what its worth +/- 0.5 mm is not going to make a difference to my overall riding setup.

Other factors may or may not influence the decision to part with hard earned cash on these pedals but Q-factors are not one of them.

Thinking these will help me train etc, don't think the q factor is a big issue for me, just wondering if anyone has tried them

I would only go for one pedal solution as the price is the issue
(Would have to buy new shoes too!)

I got a pair left side only 2 weeks ago and can't fault them . Very easy to set up , calibrate and use . Can't say I've noticed any Q factor or interference with my shoes cleats . D C rainmaker gave them a good review and basically said they were the best bang for bucks out there at this price point . £365 well spent in my opinion .

Does the pedal have different alignment due to the location of the power module?

No not at all . You do have to align the left side with the tools supplied but it hangs exactly as normal pedals and the matching right that you put on normally .
