Unfortunately Goretex doesn't work so well once the water repellent coating has gone and the fabric gets soaked.

My Goretex jackets seem to last for ages - probably because I wash them twice a year - before tour- before winter - in TX10 and then give them a quick all over with a silicone spray

Gloves though are a different matter - Ive tried porrelle (what the norwegians wear the guy in the shop told me - pah!) seal skinz - Goretex et al - I have not found anything that will stand up to a sustained downpour and keep me dry and more importently warm - gloves of last resort at present is a pair of loose-ish neoprene fishing gloves that I wear with thin liners that i swap out when they get too cold

Definitely 30,000mm and 22,000 gms for breathability - I just checked. Two other jackets state 10,000 and 12,000 mm. About the same time I posted on here I emailed them so may be they will reply and if a mistake and they spot it they will let me know and I will post it here.

The measure of waterproofing and breathability. Reply from Endura.

Waterproof:
Measured in mm of water that can be held by the fabric without leaking. 1000mm is the minimum measurement needed to pass the accepted definition of waterproof. All Endura waterproof garments are waterproof to 5000mm and above.

Breathability
Measured in grams of moisture that can pass through a square metre of fabric over 24hrs (g/m2/24hrs) using the B1 inverted cup method. All Endura waterproof garments are fully breathable/

Here are some coats tested by me in recent years. The Paramo, the Freestyle and the Montane Stormrider are all genuinely waterproof and breathable

Paramo Velez - water proof for cycling around Wales. No sweat build up, but it will get warm if you climb a mountain with it on.

Freestyle Giro - no longer made. XCR fabric, water proof, similar to Paramo, tested at PBP '07

Montane Stormrider eVent coat - also water proof and breathable. Not the greatest design, water gets trapped in the pockets. Available cheap various places, but no longer in current production

Gore Oxygen IV- somewhat water proof, more breathable than the above but not a full on absolutely waterproof coat. Packs down to a very small size however

Montane Featherlite Velo - not water proof in the slightest. Keeps drizzle off for 5 minutes maybe. Not particularly good protection from wind either.

Altura Nevis - water proof, with bike features like a drop tail this coat is not breathable at all. Any slight exertion leads to the coat filling with sweat.

Check the Biemme jacket here:

I used to swear by Nalini, but this Biemme jacket is the most waterproof and windproof I have tried. Even in the sub zero Scottish winter, a thermal and a couple of vests below are all that aew needed.
Don't know how it would stand up to all day rain as I am usually only out for 2 hours at a time.
I also switched to Biemme tights for the winter - they are really high at the front, like having a chest warmer, and very warm.

It is horribly disfigured with some sort of white cross. What is that all about?
