No worries. Something to keep in mind as well is just how little it actually rains. We seem to have days of rain followed by lots of dampness and stuff. However the actual "full on" falling water is pretty rare.
If you cant afford to get it wrong then I'd just opt for £15 overshoes maybe a £50 jacket and and layers that you can use all year round.

wearing too much else makes you so hot that you are soaked from the inside out before the rain does a job on the outside bits.

Thanks for that ive been pointed in the direction of the Aldi gear for commuting just to get filthy and wet so im going to go for that. Appreciate your advice though

I hear they only let fossy out on good behaviour once a week, so that''s 100% rain up narf then.
I knew there was something I liked about the south:whistle:

Nope, none are waterproof.

This is due to a major flaw.
There are holes in the top where you foot goes in and the bottom where the cleats are.

Neoprene is not really waterproof anyway.
The function of neoprene is to keep you warm. Even if letting water in.

Overshoes will help keep your feet drier for longer, however they won't keep your feet dry.

do't let my scuba drysuit hear you say that. it might take notice and currently it keeps the wet on the outside.

my endura overshoes keep my feet warm, thats all. not wet is a bonus.as you rightly say- design flawf hole at the top and underneath.

I have used, with success, neoprene socks on predictably wet days. Success means warm but not dry feet, feet. Try a diving kit supplier - cost about £12.
