Hi - I've never really got on with waterpoof cycling gloves, as they're usually insulated as well, which I only really find necessary in the depths of winter, and they don't pad my hands as well as my Specialized BG mitts. So, I was thinking of getting some waterproof over-gloves, just to keep out the wet from my mitts.

The only two products I've seen are "rain-off" over-gloves, which look like they would do the business, but appear to be very long motorbike style over-gloves:

(UK stockist here: http://www.sportouring.com/gallery.php?sectionHeaderActive=1600&rangeChoosen=202

or Dainese Overgloves, but these don't get great reviews:

Does anyone have experience of these or other products they can recommend? Would prefer over-gloves to over-mitts, for obvious reasons when cycling....

I have been contemplating waterproof mittens but that isn't much use to you. No idea what it would be like to cycle in but it would be for torrential downpours rather than just rain. Can't decide if it would be a recipe for disaster - hence I've not actually bought any yet.

Actually, one of the reasons I'm interested in getting waterproof over gloves is after experiencing torrential rain during a cycle tour to Islay and Jura earlier this year, during an otherwise quite sunny week!

Not an answer to the OP, but I would put in a word for Buffalo mitts, for anyone looking for really warm hands in winter.

They're not actually waterproof, but your hands stay dry: as long as they're warm (and they will be) they drive the moisture out, even in heavy rain. It really works. They are really, really warm.

The fact that they're not gloves helps with this, and I've never, ever had any trouble with not having independent use of my fingers when cycling. Why do I need fingers?

I've decided I'm going to try the buffalo mitts - there seems to be lots of good comments about them on the internet - even if I can't cycle in them, if I can just restore the circulation that will be brilliant.
